Accident occurred Saturday afternoon near Wartburg
64-year-old Bobbie Hester was killed Saturday afternoon following a two vehicle accident on Morgan County Highway near Wartburg.
According to a Tennessee Highway Patrol incident report, Hester was driving south on Highway 27 in a 2010 Nissan Rogue, when 54-year-old Willard Gunter, allegedly crossed over the center line in a 2021 Ford F-250 and struck Hester head on.
Hester’s passenger, 64-year-old Linda Hester, was also injured in the accident. Hester and his wife were both wearing seat belts.
Gunter was taken into custody following the incident and faces several charges including vehicular homicide and DUI.
A passenger in Gunter’s vehicle, 55-year-old Randy Peavyhouse, is facing charges of tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Gunter and Peavyhouse were both injured in the accident and neither were wearing seat belts.
