One arrested following deadly Coalfield crash

A 45-year-old man, Scotty Tinker, is facing criminal charges following an accident that left two people dead and Highway 62 closed for much of the evening Tuesday in the Coalfield community of Morgan County.

According to reports, Tinker was allegedly driving a minivan when he crossed the center line of traffic, striking a motorcycle and killing its two passengers.

Tinker, allegedly fled the scene on foot, but was later captured by the Tennessee Highway Patrol according to Ninth District Attorney General Russell Johnson.

Tinker was booked into Morgan County Jail on two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident, driving on a suspended license, child abuse and failure to give notice of an accident.

Tinker’s bond is currently set at $498,000.

The incident is still under investigation by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
