Scott served as Morgan County Circuit Court Clerk from 1974-1998
Morgan County Commission voted unanimously Monday night to approve a resolution to name a potion of Highway 27 between Sunbright and Wartburg for former Morgan County Circuit Court Clerk Russell Scott.
The resolution reads:
Whereas, Russell Scott was a dedicated public servant in Morgan County and served as Circuit Court Clerk for 24 years from 1974 until 1998; and
Whereas, Russell Scott volunteered for his Community and his County as a member of the Rescue Squad; and
Whereas, Russell Scott served as Morgan County Coroner for several years; and
Whereas, Russell Scott was a lifetime member of Pilot Mountain Missionary Baptist Church; and
Whereas, Russell Scott was a 32nd degree Mason and Master several times; and
Whereas, Russell Scott was involved in the Eastern Star; and
Whereas, Russell Scott was married to his Lela Sue Scott for 65 years; and
Whereas, Russell Scott was a dedicated family man and a highly respected public servant
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Morgan County Commission recognizes the impact of the life Russell Scott, and hereby honors him with the naming of a stretch of Highway 27 (Morgan County Highway) in Pilot Mountain, traveling from Pilot Mountain Tower Road to Pilot Mountain Road.
