The Tennessee Highway Patrol has issued its preliminary report into a three-vehicle accident that left one person dead in Morgan County Tuesday.
According to the report, a 2020 Subaru Forrester, driven by George Vernon McPeters Jr., was traveling east on Highway 62 was stopped waiting for a vehicle to turn left onto CCC Road.
Another vehicle, a 2012 Chevy Sonic driven by 60-year-old Diane Cline, failed to stop and struck McPeters’ vehicle in its rear left side.
McPeters’ vehicle came to a stop against the guardrail, however, Cline’s vehicle continued on and struck a westbound 2020 Chevy Equinox driven by 44-year-old Nikki Smith head on. Smith’s vehicle flipped on its top.
Cline was killed in the incident.
